The definition of sustainable tourism is tourism that is aware of present and future economic, social and environmental impacts on an area or community. Which is a good concept which tourists should abide by. There are many ways a tourist can stay sustainable while enjoying a countries parks and countrysides. One of the biggest issues that most have most likely heard of is pack out what you pack in. Leaving your garbage behind is not only unpleasant to look at but it can be deadly to local wildlife. Another issue is remembering while hiking to stay on posted routes and on the trail. For when you wonder around you may start a trail which others will follow and which in end can cause erosion. Through erosion it brings materials off the mountains and down the hill which through the years can fill in lakes and even sever cases can cause landslides.
This is a perfect example of the power of erosion,
though it was not caused by human presence
but by wind water and ice
Another nice gesture which you can do is when in a smaller community try not to bring your own water and food but purchase it from them to help support their economy and families.
